Caring Connections

We seek to help people of all ages to discover Jesus and to become disciples who are committed to transforming the world through Christian service and care.  We offer a variety of pastoral care ministries that touch countless lives, near and far. St. Thomas promotes our members, and friends of our church, to live out their baptism and use their spiritual gifts and talents to impact in wonderful ways the lives of others.  We believe that faith should precede works of service, but that service naturally flows forth from a life of faith.

Christ calls us to “love one another.” As a Christian community we are summoned to respond to the needs of others. The Caring Commission serves as the vehicle for all to minister to one another, offering comfort and refreshment in times of joy, sorrow, trial, transitions or other need. Caring for one another is a discreet, vital and dynamic part of the life of St. Thomas’ Church.

Our Mission is to manifest Christ’s love and compassion to all parishioners. We do this through our Caring Ministries, which are listed below:

Altar Flower Delivery: Shares our alter flowers with those who are shut-in, ill, in crisis, grieving or celebrating something special.

Card Ministry: Sends caring thoughts at difficult as well as joyous times, like sickness, loss, bereavement, birth, confirmation, graduation, or major life transitions.

Lay Eucharistic Ministry: Trained laity of St. Thomas’ take communion from our worship services to those unable to attend.

Ministry of Meals: Provides home made meals to those in times of illness, bereavement or transition.

Parish Prayer Chain: Prays daily for people in need.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Knits prayer shawls to give to others in need of a loving touch.

Stephen Ministers: Provides trained confidential, one-on-one Christian care to individuals in our congregation who are expecting challenges in their lives.
